About Our Founder
Founder, Heba Dajani is a former luxury publicist and contributing Fashion Editor who received her Bachelor’s degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She is an avid student of fashion law at the Fashion Law Institute part of Fordham University. She previously worked in Dubai at Havas Red Dubai, part of Chalhoub Group, as the Middle Eastern publicist for Carolina Herrera New York, KENZO and helped launch KARL LAGERFELD into the MENA region in May 2015. With luxury and retail industry insight, she ventured to traverse the fine line of communications between public relations and journalism and served as a Contributing Fashion Editor for Dubai based magazines for Pinpoint Media Group.
“The fair use doctrine is an international legal framework at the heart of A Little Potent’s faux designer puns,” she explains. “We know that fashion is all about storytelling. A Little Potent takes the icons of style and luxury and reinterprets them with humor, giving new meaning through parody. The satire exudes a witty twist for the Haute couture connoisseur.”
The seed for A Little Potent was planted during Dajani’s own journey into motherhood. “As we eagerly awaited the arrival of our first-born, I planned a fashion-forward gender reveal. One night, I turned to my husband and said, “Dolce love me and Gabbana be with me?” That moment of laughter and creativity ignited the spark for A Little Potent. Joseph brought the ideas to life through graphic design and we custom-printed the phrases onto onesies which hung at our reveal party. The joy of that moment inspired us to expand the idea, turning fashion parody into a punny babywear collection.”
“Working as a luxury publicist and fashion editor gave me a front-row seat to the glamour of high fashion, and its occasional faux pas,” says Founder Heba Dajani. “We’ve all stumbled over a maison’s name, and I wanted to turn that moment of tension into delight. A Little Potent grew out of that playful instinct to reimagine fashion’s seriousness with cheeky puns and clever homophones that open up new meanings while keeping the spirit of couture intact.”
